Axe Workshop & Tree Interpretation

Our Axe workshop & Tree Interpretation course goes beyond anything that is currently available on the UK market.

Come and learn from the master about tree identification, the language of trees, and then how to use your tools safely.

Using their many years of experience working in woodland environments, drawing on the skills of a tree surgeon, a warden, and Bushcraft Instructors- Dan & Jason will work with you through this weekend on initially how to identify trees- utlilising some of their unique "tricks" to open up the world of tree identification to you.

Of course the practical aspect also includes a large amount of axe work during day light hours. Here you will learn how to fell, limb, log up and split different woods using an axe. We also cover appropriate tool choice, pruning cuts, dealing with hung up trees and the legal framework of sharp edged tools and working with trees.

Once our material is gathered the weekend culminates in you making your own chair to take away with you.

On an evening stroll you will also learn on this course the language of trees, how they grow, how they react to environmental conditions, and then how they can be managed beneficially for the environment. All of these skills are learnt in a practicle setting, there is no "death by powerpoint" here, you will be in the woods, watching the woods, interpreting the woods, and truly connecting with the woodland environment.

Places on this course are severely restricted to ensure the quality and safety of the course information presented. We guarentee you an instructor ratio of 1-4.

Please note this is a self catering course and no food is included, you will need to bring food and all cooking equipment etc with you for the duration of the weekend.
