Course Information:
The Woodland Ways Winter Survival Skills Course is a more advanced Bushcraft & Survival Course focusing on the immediate short term priorities for winter survival - Shelter and Warmth, before building on the more advanced skills of gathering wild foods and tracking.
We will look in detail at building effective shelters using natural materials and also a variety of raised beds options. You will then spend the the afternoon constructing your own shelter and raised bed to provide you with insulation from the ground.
We then go on to construct your self feeding fires to keep you warm all evening before moving on to friction fire lighting and the construction of a group fire bow set.
Your meals which are all included, will be game based (vegetarian options are available) such as roast pheasant which you will cook in a dutch oven on an open fire in your own camp. This will be accompanied by warming roast vegetables.
We will also look at beginners to intermediate tracking skills and the variey of wild foods available at this time of year on a wild food foray. If the nightime winter skies are clear we will learn some new constellations not covered on previous courses.
