Make water safe to drink. These easy to use tablets will remove viruses, bacteria and cysts from the water and are a cheaper alternative to purchasing a water purification pump. One tablet will treat 1 litre of water.

What do our instructors think? Here Jason writes:

"These are a relativly cheap alternative to a pump and are simple to use, although the process is lengthy in comparison. You drop these tablets into your water and wait for 30 minutes for all bacteria and viruses to be killed. We always recomend filtering your water first to remove any particles where this is neccesary before the purification process."

Advantages: Your water will be safe to drink, wash with, treat wounds with, clean food with etc. It is also cost efficient.

Disadvantages: It may or may not be a disadvantage to have to wait for 30 minutes for the purification process to take place, you will need to consider if the water you are treating needs to be filtered also... for example from a tap overseas, we would suggest maybe not, for water from a stream, definatly filter first- otherwise the bacteria may just borrow into the debris (no matter how small) and survive the purification process.
