Bow Making Weekend Course
We will guide you through the whole process step by step. We will start with a safety brief on the Friday night and then there will be time to set up your basha/tent and familiarise youself with your surroundings and fellow bow makers as well as cook yourself some food. We then look at the safe use of the tools that are required for the course.
The hard work starts in ernest on the Saturday morning where we will start by taking a look at the different types of woods suitable for bow making. We will also look at bow design and the factors effecting bow efficiency before moving on to shaping the stave and cutting the string groves. A break for lunch is included.
Saturdays work will conclude around 18:00 to allow time for cooking your food and relaxing around the campfire.
On Sunday we then move on to tillering the bow. Tillering refers to the process of making the stave into a bow. We also look at string making. We cover finishing the bow and bow after care. There will also be an opportunity to "test" your bow by firing some arrows at some targets.
