The Gransfors Bruks axe stone is the standard sharpening and honing tool for your axes. It is a grinding stone with a rubberised casting and a course side and a fine side made of sandstone quarried on the island of Gotland, Sweden.

The axe stone is suitable for the touch up of minor imperfections and normal wear of your axe and to give the edge its original sharpness.

Clean the axe before sharpening. Use the stone with a circular motion, first with the course side then with the fine grit side. Rotate the stone in your hand so it will wear evenly. For a long lasting edge strop the axe blade on a leather belt after sharpening

Advantages:The stone can be used with or without water, it comes supplied in its own rubber housing for protection.Suitable for removing minor imperfections. It floats if you drop it in water!

Disadvantages: Not suitable for removing large dinks in the axe blade, we would suggest using the Gransfors Axe File first and then sharpening with the axe stone once the dinks have been removed.
