Hultafors Heavy Duty Knife - Carbon Steel Green

The Hultafors heavy duty knife is a powerful and durable ground knife suitable for coarse work such as prizing, wood splitting and battoning.

It is made from Japanese 3mm carbon steel which has been hardened to 58 -60 HRC.

The handle and sheath are made of extra durable PP plastic and the handle is green.

The heavy-duty knife is more robust and therefore has a larger sheath compared to other craftsman’s knives.

The sheath features a full belt loop as well as a button attachment and has a deep finger guard and large thumb lever.

Blade length: 9.4cm
Total length:22.2cm

So what do our instructors think? Here Jason writes "Another excellent product from a swedish company renown for their quality. This knife feels a lot heavier and weighty than similar knives and so I think would suit someone who prefers something with a little more of a solid feel. The belly on the knife is good for carving, and the almost oval handle means it fits comfortably when working with the knife in alternative grips. A big improvement in the sheath with the belt loop being complete. These are factory produced so don't expect the same quality as a handmade knife, but I think this is a wonderful addition to my rucksack."

Advantages: Has a Carbon steel blade which is easier to sharpen than a Stainless steel blade.

Disadvantages: Carbon steel blades do not hold their edge as long as Stainless steel blades. The handle is green so could be tricky to spot on the woodland floor.
