Keep your tinder dry and mould free. These pouches are ideal for stashing that bit of tinder that you find as you are foraging along the hedgrows. When empty they fold down in to nothing, and when full they will keep your tinder dry, mould free, and hold in any of those downy bits of fluff that have a tendency to fly off down wind at the 1st sign of wind!

The blue colour of this particular one makes it ideal to find when you place it down on the woodland floor in amongst the leaves and bracken! If you would prefer more natural colours then just click on back, there are others to choose from.

So what do our instructors think? Here Jason writes:

"It was at a very early age when I realised that plastic containers and tinder do not go together, as the vacume is heated it draws all the moisture out of the tinder to condense on the plastic... and then your mother shouts at you for storing mould in the garden shed! We asked for these leather pouches to be designed in order for them to be able to hold dry tinder and a fire steel, making a fantastic fire starting kit. The blue on this particular bag makes it very easy to spot on the woodland floor, thats often the trouble with us... we always wear and use things that are green!"

Advantages: Water repellant, breathable, compact when empty and an ideal size for gathering natural materials sustainably

Disadvantages: Its blue and not green (stamp!). Although seriously we have found these bags to be extremely tough, they are a good size for downy material and small fruiting bodies, but you would struggle to fit some of the larger bracket fungi inside them.
