Matches that refuse to go out in the wind. These matches are a little gem. Nicely and compactly packaged the tub provides the first level of protection from the elements, much more effective than a cardboard box. The striking surface is located on both the lid and the base of the container, and the matches and tinder (cotton wool) are inside. So these matches will still strike and continue to burn in the rain... but not only this, if it is windy the wind may blow it out, but a second later it will re-ignite all by itself.
Approx 25 matches per pot.
So what do our Instructors think? Here Dan writes:
"I really like the fact that these matches re-ignite all by themselves, is it bushcraft or witchcraft?? I also like the fact that yiou can use the container to store natural tinders in once they are dry, enabling you to carry your heat source and fuel with you in the same place. All of these factors are very useful.
Generally speaking the more you need a fire the harder it will be to light, and this will be mainly due to the elements. When it is howling a gale and pouring with rain your priority is shelter, after this I would be looking at getting a fire going to provide warmth and lift morale, these matches increase your chances of being able to achieve this"
Advantages: Well we would think this would be obvious... they are waterproof and windproof!
Disadvantages: There are obviously a finite number of matches in each container, once they're gone they're gone, so don't wait until you get down to the last match before replenishing your supplies.
