Frost River Isle Royale Bushcraft Pack(730)

These beautiful packs are hand made in Duluth, Minnesota by a company called Frost River.

These packs are built for a very specific tasks (hauling the stuff that will sustain you) in a very specific environment (the Northern Wilderness). In this setting, things like a seam ripping or a sidewall tearing or a strap breaking - little failures that would be an annoyance in everyday life - come with huge consequences.

Which is why Frost River make every pack and every bag in the manner they know to be the most effective at delivering superior performance—The old way.
Their forefathers - the loggers and trappers and traders and adventures who called the deep North Woods home - relied on their packs to perform in unforgiving and unrelenting environments. That expectation, that urgency for performance, has been passed on to the modern day Frost River Company. These packs are all hand made without compromise from the highest quality components.

If you are one of those people who like to take everything with you, just in case, then the full size Isle Royale is for you.  It will carry a lot of kit!

Built as full featured canoe packs, both the Isle Royale and the Isle Jr. are designed to be relied upon to haul heavy loads into and out of the wilderness.  Pockets on the back of the pack make for a slim profile to aid travelling off trail without becoming entangled in brush.

The twin pockets straddle an axe sleeve, lash squares at the bottom and an extended hood allow overstuffing and lashing stuff to the outside.

Built from waxed canvas, great leather, solid brass… it’s made to last.  Due to the natural characteristic of the waxed canvas and leather used in production, each pack is individual and will have slight colour variations, this is to be expected and is in no way a fault with the product.

Pack arrived in three days of placing my order, thank you for your prompt service. The pack itself is very well made, weighs approximately 7lbs empty. It has four external pockets and a sleeve for an axe plus on either side of the pack drawcord lacings ideal place to put a poncho or tent. The base of the pack has four attachment points for bedroll straps and the lid has two D rings for attachments. Inside the main bucket is large and there is also a map pocket under the lid.All fittings are leather and solid brass, the pack itself is made from waxed canvas, this pack will last generations.Superb bushcraft pack but not light,so if you are a ultra light backpacker this is not for you. This pack is replacing my original Second World War Norweigan Telemark Pack, similar in many ways but has no external frame. The pack itself has no structure so it collapses on itself when empty,I put my sleep mat inside on the back otherwise everything that you put inside will dig into you back, the other alternative would be to put a plastic container in then load the pack.I needed a pack that was robust for the enviroments that I go to not only here in the UK but also Canada and this does it for me,have not yet used it in the field as I have only had it a few days, but it is packed and ready to go and I find it comfortable to wear.Really do like this pack and would recomend to anyone who needs tough and reliable kit.
